So erike we're countin' on you, buddy! If you create another account, or use a previously created Admin account, you should be able to run free of installed extras and "prejudice". Very important to try that once you've created a vanilla project that you see run poorly under your own login. Log out and log in using that other account. If Logic runs fine under another account, it's due to installed junk or some configuration problem, and you've pretty much answered your own question.
Last edited by Fernand; 6th January at AM.. There is some sluggish 'business' going on with Logic - e. Go use Logic 9 for a bit and you'll all be reminded how snappy it was. My theory is that a the graphics card is vital to have Logic feeling 'snappy' and b Logic's GUI is in dire need of optimisation and throwing high end graphics cards and CPUs are unfortunately necessary to make up for the lack of graphical optimisation.
I went from a GT MB pushing a 30" screen to a 1GB that I got for free , and noticed some improvement, but the is still a very slow card by today's standards. Very computation-intensive. Only the reverbs use any memory to speak of. A modern OS will even load a single copy of the code into RAM and multiple sessions will execute out of that one instance.
So it's CPU. There's some question as to how much they use the GPU. A whole x screen in 24 bit color is about 6 MB. So even assuming the graphics card stored several whole screen images, plus smaller windows for the different sections and effects displays to blit onto the screen image, we have a big margin with even a MB card.
A better graphics card might move blitted regions faster, but I wouldn't expect a big difference for Logic between a very basic card and a very fancy one. But maybe they figured something new out.
